What Happens After DUI Arrest?

Dui is reduced to a lesser offense with a fine and court costs," richard said. "first offenders often have their charge reduced to some sort of a traffic violation. Robert owen. , an oklahoma county assistant district attorney, said first-time offenders pleading guilty to a misdemeanor dui charge in oklahoma county district court can expect at least a one- to five-year deferred sentence. County prosecutors usually require defendants to attend a victim's impact panel, where they hear stories from those who have lost loved ones to drunken drivers, and attend counseling. Richard and owen said every case is unique. The circumstances of the case, the age of the offender and past driving and criminal record are considered and affect the outcome. Repeat dui offenses are felonies. The vast majority of dui defendants plead guilty in both municipal and district court, richard and owen said. Most cases don't make it to trial because defendants almost always get a lesser sentence when they plead guilty, both attorneys said. Owen said prosecutors offer deals to defendants because of the volume of cases they see.

Dui is not funny.

Dui is not your thing.

Dui is about money too, if you have money ,you dont even get a conviction. I had a friend of mines father get a dui, went to court and paid 5000. 00 dollars and did not get a conviction, nor did he have to go to aa classes. I know of 2 other dui cases the same as this, they call it "deferred conviction". Inappropriate?"
